Journey Through the Himalayas:

The safari route takes you through some of the most enchanting destinations: Narkanda - Sangla - Chitkul - Kalpa - Nako - Tabo - Kaza - Chandratal Lake. Each stop brings a new landscape, culture, and story to unfold.

High-Altitude Experience:

Spiti lies at an average elevation of 12,500 feet. From rugged mountains to pristine rivers and turquoise lakes, every turn presents breathtaking views of the cold desert Himalayas.

Ancient Monasteries:

Explore centuries-old monasteries like Key, Tabo, and Dhankar, which are not just places of worship but living museums of Buddhist art, scriptures, and culture.

Charming Villages:

Visit quaint villages like Kibber, Langza, and Komic (one of the world’s highest inhabited villages). Experience the warmth and simplicity of the locals while witnessing their unique traditions and lifestyle.

16 years onwards. 

Travelling:

By Tempo traveller from Chandigarh to Chandigarh.

Accommodation:

Separate accommodation for boys and girls will be provided in hotel/home stay on a four-sharing basis.

Please Carry:

Comfortable clothes, night dress, cap, thermals, sweater, jacket, raincoat, bath towel, sports shoes, socks, sandals/floaters, woollen cap, woollen socks, leather gloves, sunglasses, water bottle, power bank, daypack, folding umbrella, Sun glasses, and toiletries (soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, sunscreen, cold cream, lip balm etc.). Also carry an original photo ID proof. The participants may have to pay fine, wherever applicable in the absence of original photo ID.

All The Items: mentioned should preferably be packed in a rucksack that is easier to carry. Please do not bring any disposable items, ornaments and other valuables. Binoculars and camera are optional.

Food:

Wholesome and hygienic vegetarian food will be served, including breakfast, lunch and dinner even during the journey. Special Jain / Swaminarayan food is also served if mentioned in the application form.

Medical Facilities:

in the form of First aid would be available throughout the programme. All emergencies would be treated by the nearest available doctor/medical facility. If any participant/s needs to be taken to a clinic or hospital, they will be responsible for covering the doctor's fee, medical expenses, transport charges, and any other related costs.

Itinerary

Depart from Vadodara / Sabarmati (BG) for Chandigarh in the morning by train in a 3 AC Regular Coach.

Arrive in Chandigarh in the morning and proceed to Shimla by AC vehicle. Check in to your hotel and unwind in the refreshing mountain air. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Shimla.

After breakfast, check out and start your scenic journey to Sangla. Drive through the dense forests of Narkanda and along the Sutlej River, soaking in the unending beauty of Kinnaur Valley. En route, admire the massive hydro project at Karcham Dam.Arrive in Sangla by evening and enjoy the serene river valley of Baspa at an altitude of 9,000 ft. Overnight stay in Sangla.

After breakfast, explore the local attractions including the ancient Kamru Fort and the temple dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya Devi, believed to have been brought from Assam. Post-lunch, proceed for an excursion to Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the old Indo-Tibetan trade route. Walk through apple orchards and along crystal-clear streams. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Baspa Valley (3,450 m): One of the most picturesque valleys in the Himalayas, rich in Kinnauri culture and apple orchards. It was opened to tourists only in 1993 due to its proximity to the Tibetan border.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Kalpa, the district headquarters of Kinnaur. Once a favourite retreat of Lord Dalhousie during the British era, Kalpa is known for its timeless charm. After lunch, relax and later visit Suicide Point and Roghi Village—known for their dramatic landscapes. Spend the night in Kalpa, enjoying the spectacular views of the Kinnaur Kailash range. Overnight stay in Kalpa.

Kalpa (2,960 m): Formerly known as Chini, Kalpa has changed little over the last 500 years. Every corner of the village faces the breathtaking Jorkanden and Kinnaur Kailash peaks, including a 79-ft natural Shivling formation that changes colour with the daylight.

After breakfast, depart for Tabo via the Indo-Tibet Highway. Drive past the dramatic Khab Bridge, marking the confluence of the Spiti and Sutlej Rivers. En route, visit the peaceful village of Nako, known for its lake, Buddhist temples, and the footprints of Guru Padmasambhava. Continue the journey with a stop at Gue Village, home to a 500-year-old naturally preserved mummy of a Tibetan monk. Arrive in Tabo by evening. Dinner and overnight stay. Nako: (3,625mts/11,893ft): The Nako Village is located between Kinnaur and Spiti Valley

Nako is a mesmerising and picturesque village that is full of eye capturing surroundings and is the most significant village situated in the Kinnaur district of the Himachal Pradesh. The village also offers the visitors with multiple sightseeing options such as the famous Nako Lake, Buddhist Temples and Rakham amongst others. Near the lake, one can also find the footprints of the saint Padmasambhava, who is believed to have meditated at the spot for many years.

After breakfast, visit the renowned Tabo Monastery, often called the Ajanta of the Himalayas, the oldest continuously functioning Buddhist enclave in India. Explore the ancient caves near Tabo before proceeding to Dhankar to visit the dramatic cliff-side Dhankar Monastery. Continue to Kaza and check in upon arrival. Dinner and overnight stay.
 

Tabo:(3,280mts/10,760ft): Tabo is famous for the Tabo Monastery which is known as “AJANTA OF THE HIMALAYAS”. Tabo Monastery which is the oldest continuously operating Buddhist enclave in both India and the Himalayas.Tabo Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries located in the Tabo Village of Spiti Valley. In fact, it is the oldest monastery in India and the Himalayas that has been functioning continuously since its inception. This alluring monastery is renowned as the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas’.

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day excursion covering the following highlights of Spiti Valley and return to Kaza in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.

Key Monastery (13,668ft/4,166mts): The learning centre of Buddhism. Housing ancient murals and weapons. Begin the tour by visiting the Key Monastery having an ancient collection of murals and weapons.

Chicham Bridge(13596ft/4145Mts): Kibber Village and Chicham Village are linked by Asia’s highest bridge called Chicham Bridge. The 113.83-metre-long bridge is located above the Samba Lamba Nallah, a 1000 ft deep gorge. It connects the villages of Kibber and Losar, helping reduce the journey between them by around 40 km.

Langza (14,500 ft/4,420): situated at a whopping height of about 14,500 ft. above sea level and also considered to be one of the highest villages in the world with a motorable road.

Hikkim (14,570ft/4,440mts/): one of the highest year-round inhabited locations in India and housing the highest post office in the world.

Komik Village (15,049fts/4589mts: which is Asia's highest Village Komic village is a very beautiful place and a heaven for nature and peace lovers.

Begin early and drive towards the iconic Kunzum La Pass (4,551 m), enjoying magnificent Himalayan views. A short diversion before Batal will lead you to the magical Chandratal Lake, known for its crescent shape and ever-changing colours.Check into your campsite near the lake. Witness a dazzling night sky—one of the best in India—ideal for star gazing and, if lucky, glimpses of the Milky Way. Overnight stay in tents (temperature at night may go down to 0 to 5 degrees.

Kunzum La pass: Navigate through the challenging yet rewarding Kunzum La pass, (4,551mts/14,930), relishing the panoramic views of towering peaks.

Chandratal Lake: The lake is situated in the Spiti part of the Lahaul and Spiti district and is also called the “Moon Lake” due to its crescent shape. It is overlooked by the mountains on one side and a cirque on the other. After the sunset, the lake glitters under the starlit sky adding to its overall charm. Marvel at the changing colors of the Chandratal Lake throughout the day. If you are lucky enough, you can also catch the sight of the milky way galaxy.

After breakfast, leave from Chandratal and drive towards Manali, passing through the stunning landscapes of Lahaul, Sissu, and the impressive Atal Tunnel. On arrival in Manali, check into your hotel. In the evening, you will be free to explore Mall Road or visit the famous Hadimba Devi Temple. Overnight stay in Manali.

Depart early in the morning for Chandigarh to board the 3 Ac Train in the evening.

Arrive Vadodara / Sabarmati (BG) in the morning. Hold on to as many beautiful memories as you can in your heart.

  • If any scheduled activity is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, no refund will be provided.
  • This is a wilderness safari in the Himalayas, not a comfort-based road trip. Please join only if you are ready to embrace the raw beauty of nature, ready to adapt in any condition, expect least facilities and push your limits—both physically and mentally.

Charges:

Charges are inclusive of accomodation, travelling from Vadodara / Ahmedabad (by different modes), food, activities and GST.

Registration: 

Please fill up the registration form and pay an advance of Rs. 10000/-  to confirm your booking along with a photocopy of your photo ID. The balance payment should reach our office at least 30 days before the commencement of the journey. Reservation is done on first come first served basis. Railway reservation will depend on the availability of tickets.


Cheques, NEFT/RTGS should be in favour of OUTDOORS UNLIMITED, payable at Vadodara only. 

A batch in any programme is subject to cancellation if the total numbers of participants is below 20.


Cancellation Charges:

Minimum cancellation (before 65 days) : @ 05% of the total programme cost.

Between 65 to 31 days : @ 10% of the total programme cost.

Between 30 to 15 days : @ 25% of the total programme cost.

Between 14 & 8 days : @ 50% of the total programme cost.

Last 7 days or No Show : No Refund
